Managing Your AI Conversations: History, Search & Export
How MyLLM stores, organizes, and lets you search through all your AI conversations — completely offline with full export capability.
Your Conversations, Your Data
Every conversation you have with MyLLM is stored locally in a Room database on your device. This isn't just a privacy feature — it's a powerful organizational tool. You can search, browse, export, and manage all your AI interactions.
Chat History Features
Search Across All Conversations
Lost that code snippet from last week? Can't remember the recipe the AI suggested? MyLLM's full-text search lets you find any message across all your conversations instantly.
The search works entirely offline using Room's built-in full-text search capabilities — fast, private, and reliable.
Conversation Organization
Each conversation is automatically timestamped and can be organized:
- Browse by date — See all conversations from a specific day or week
- Pin important chats — Keep frequently referenced conversations at the top
- Delete old chats — Clean up conversations you no longer need
- Conversation titles — Auto-generated titles based on the first message
Export Your Data
Your conversations belong to you. MyLLM makes it easy to export them:
- Individual chats — Export a single conversation as text
- Full history — Export everything for backup or migration
- Share snippets — Copy specific messages to share with others
How Storage Works
MyLLM uses Android's Room database for local storage:
- SQLite under the hood — Reliable, battle-tested database technology
- Encrypted at rest — Your conversations are protected by your device's encryption
- Automatic cleanup — Old model cache files are cleaned up to save space
- Minimal footprint — Text conversations take very little storage (a few MB for thousands of messages)
Storage Breakdown
| Item | Typical Size |
| App itself | 31 MB |
| Chat database (1000 messages) | ~2 MB |
| Qwen 3.5 0.6B model | ~500 MB |
| Qwen 3.5 4B model | ~2.8 GB |
| Qwen 3.5 8B model | ~5 GB |
Privacy of Stored Data
All conversation data stays on your device:
- No sync — Nothing is uploaded to any cloud service
- No backup to Google — Conversations aren't included in Android auto-backup
- Device encryption — Protected by your lock screen and device encryption
- Full deletion — When you delete a conversation, it's truly deleted from the database
Tips for Managing History
- Use descriptive first messages — The auto-title feature works best with clear opening messages
- Pin reference chats — Keep useful conversations (like code templates or instructions) pinned
- Export regularly — If you want backups, export periodically to your preferred storage
- Clean up large conversations — Very long conversations can slow down loading; start fresh when a topic changes
- Search first — Before asking the AI something again, search your history — you might already have the answer
